Sherwa Rewind 2021: the year of games in review

2021 has finally come to an end. We had a full year of news and happenings in the gaming industry in the first year of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on the market. There were many games that arrived on consoles and PC that made us go through another year of the coronairus pandemic.

Still, events like E3 were held, although they didn’t have the same glamor as other editions. But it was a good year,

To remember all the most important events that happened in 2021, Sherwa presents its retrospective.

Big Events

‘Cyberbug’ 2077

The year 2021 began with the aftermath of the disastrous release of Cyberpunk 2077. One of the most anticipated games of all time was released unfinished, fraught with issues and bugs and without much of the promised content. It’s been over a year since launch and the game hasn’t delivered everything yet. Will it ever be finished?

Xbox + Bethesda

Microsoft’s $7.2 billion purchase of Bethesda started a new phase for the Xbox. And it was during E3 2021 that we saw the fruit of this union where Bethesda together with its locomotive of studios brought their new productions that will hit the Xbox Game Pass on Day One. Indeed, Bethesda’s arrival to the Xbox family will provide an incredible role for the Xbox brand in this new generation.

E3 2021

The event, just like the previous year, was considered weak, with few important announcements. After all, Sony and Electronic Arts did not participate in the event. Titles like Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Starfield, Forza Horizon 5, Guardians of the Galaxy and Breath of the Wild 2 were the big attractions this year, although the event, again, was underwhelming.

Game Awards

The biggest gaming awards in the world took place in early December. Among the big ads like Elden Ring, Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman and more, the game It Takes Two was voted best game of 2021, along with Deathloop and Metroid Dread.

What rocked in games

Forza Horizon 5

One of the best racing games of the year and of all time on Xbox.

Halo: Infinite

After a long time, we are finally playing the new Master Chief adventure. And she is very good.

It Takes Two

Rightly voted the best game of 2021.

Psychonauts 2

A pleasant surprise that many wanted it to be voted best game of the year. If not, play.

Resident Evil Village

Capcom’s horror has returned in big form and action. But the world only talks about Lady Dimetrescu (and her cosplays).
