Gamescom 2021: Call of Duty: Vanguard, Horizon Forbidden West, Halo Infinite; everything you need to know
Gamescom, the biggest gaming event in Europe and one of the biggest in the world, started out full of big game announcements and revelations. Games like Call of Duty: Vanguard, Horizon Forbidden West , Halo: Infinite and Death Stranding: Director’s Cut , Elden Ring, new Saint’s Row and Metroid Dread, have all received new content, while we heard during the event about the existence of games like Marvel’s Midnight Sun, a strategy game with our favorite super heroes.

Call of Duty: Vanguard gameplay
Call of Duty: Vanguard, which will take us back to World War II, was featured at Gamescom 2021. After the trailer that revealed the game, which arrives on November 5th for consoles and PC, we’re left drooling over a gameplay video that shows the story of Polina, a woman who fights for the Soviet side against the Nazis during the Battle of Stalingrad.
Polina is played by actress Laura Bailey, known for playing Abby in The Last of Us Part II and Kait in Gears 5.
Still, many CoD streamers are testing the multiplayer mode, which looks pretty good. Check out the gameplay from Hayashii below.
Horizon Forbidden West arrives in February
Sony has revealed the release date of Horizon Forbidden West, The long awaited game arrives on PS4 and PS5 on February 18, 2022. The sequel to Horizon Zero Down takes Aloy on a journey across the Western United States. The adventure will bring lots of robot dinosaur combat and exploration.
Halo Infinite arrives in December
We finally have a release date for Halo: Infinite. The Xbox (which will run on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S) and PC game arrives on December 8th. The new Master Chief adventure has also gained a new trailer that opens the first season of the incredible game’s multiplayer mode.
Death Stranding Director’s Cut Details
Gamescom revealed more details of Hideo Kojima’s game. The “director’s version” has several new features. Sam Bridges will be able to perform jumps between extremely distant points through the new booster located in the character’s backpack. Using this item, Sam is able to float a little and cut his way across the top rather than having to go over the ground.
Packages can also be thrown from a catapult. While the projectile with the deliveries is flying, it is possible to deploy a parachute and choose exactly where all the cargo will land.
These are just a few examples of what will be possible in the new version of the game, as you can see in the video. Death Stranding Director’s Cut will be released on September 24th for PS5.
Metroid Dread trailer
Nintendo has released a new trailer for Metroid Dread. Dubbed “Samus’s Biggest Threat”, we got a better taste of what to expect from the game and the heroine’s new abilities.
The game has 3D graphics but the gameplay is 2D, referring to the traditional Metroid. The game will bring classic elements of the series to a new generation of players. Metroid Dread comes exclusively to Switch on October 8.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns
Have you ever thought playing a turn-based tactical RPG with Marvel characters? Then Marvel’s Midnight Suns was made for you. From the creators of XCOM, the game will have, so far, the revealed characters Iron Man, Captain America, Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange, Blade, Nico Minoru, Magik, Ghost Rider and Wolverine. According to the studio, there will be 13 characters in total.
Midnight Suns arrives for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC in March 2022.

Valheim gets big update
On September 16th comes the first big update from Valheim, called Hearth and Home.
The focus of the new content, according to the creators, is to refine and expand survival elements, mainly food and feeding mechanics. Now, it will be possible to create spices, pots and pans for the kitchen. Food will influence your character’s attributes.

Starfield has scenarios revealed
Little is yet known about Bethesda’s space exploration game other than the fact that it will be similar to Skyrim. But in three short videos, we know three game scenarios that we’ll be able to explore. Check it out.
South Korean producer Pearl Abyss, creator of Black Desert, showed for the first time the gameplay of her newest game, DokeV.
The game is open world in an urban setting. Players are tasked with capturing creatures called Dokebi and participating in real-time battles. The title still promises a lot of exploration and adventure, with breathtaking graphics.
DokeV should be released on PC and consoles in 2022.
New Saitns Row
The return of the open world game with exaggerated action surprised a lot of people, but not the fans. The game’s videos are getting more negative reviews than positive ones, which was certainly not what the studio was expecting.
However, expect a new story, lots of action and the possibility of using cars as weapons. We’ll learn a lot more details when the new Saint’s Row is finalized for console and PC release on February 25, 2022.
Elden Ring’s new images
Bandai Namco and From Software revealed more Elden Ring images and information at Gamescom 2021.
Elden Ring will feature a map with many different paths and optional boss encounters, as well as many different endings that will open depending on the actions players take throughout the adventure.
The game will feature stealth mechanics, as well as a new type of strike known as “Guard Counter”, in which it is possible to strike immediately after a normal block.
