Cyberpunk 2077: Sony and Microsoft are refunding players for poor game quality; PSN removes game from store
What was supposed to be a big party with the release of one of the most anticipated games of all time has become one of the biggest fiascos in the gaming industry. Cyberpunk 2077 arrived with lots of bugs on all platforms that was released, but it was on PS4 and Xbox One where it caused the most controversy. Promised for almost 8 years for both video games, it’s practically impossible to play the CD Projekt Red RPG on them due to the very low technical achievements and the low graphic quality.
This made peolpe who bought Cyberpunk 2077 on PS4 and Xbox One to file for refund requests, something that was not working until Sony and Microsoft received a barrage of requests from players. Thus, Sony took the game from its virtual store, the PlayStation Store. Microsoft has promised refunds, but has not stopped selling the game on the Xbox Store.
The announcement comes after a flurry of complaints of the game’s performance on Sony and Microsoft consoles, including bugs, crashes, among other several problems. In Sony’s case, the initiative is unprecedented, since it was denying refunds to users and even recommended that they wait for a patch with corrections.
The terrible performance of Cyberpunk 2077 happens on the PC and on the consoles, but it’s practically unplayable on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. CD Projekt RED has publicly apologized for the problematic launch of the game.
In a statement, signed by a number of executives, CDPR acknowledges that it erred in failing to show how the game worked on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One prior to its release – which caused the company to keep upfront sales of the game and also make the game continue to be sold.
The developer stated that it works that it will fix bugs and crashes, and that it will improve the current game experience. After a first round of fixes that has already been released, the next update is expected for the next seven days. Two “big” patch patches are also expected in early 2021, which arrive in January and February.
