Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is revealed; game releases on November 13th on consoles and PC
Activision revealed its newest edition of the popular FPS game Call of Duty. Scheduled for November 13th, the new installment is called Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and is the newest version of the beloved shooter subseries Black Ops. The team behind the game will have a lot of work to overcome the incredible Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, released in 2019, and its Warzone battle royale mode, one of the most played games these days. The first person shooter game (FPS) will have versions for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Later on, an edition with enhanced graphics for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X was promised to be released.
The first trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has already been entirely made with the game running on the PS5. Check it out below:
Nothing was revealed about the multiplayer and the battle royale modes. We know, however, that there will be a Zombies mode, loved by fans. Activision only revealed details of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War campaign. The story takes place in 1981 and it’s a direct sequel of the original Call of Duty: Black Ops, released in 2010. The presence of a Russian spy on American soil during the Cold War is discovered and CIA agents are trying to find a way to identify and prevent him from causing further damage to destabilize the country.
Whoever played the first Call of Duty: Black Ops games knows that it’s inspired by real historical elements, but mixes them with fictional elements like conspiracy theories and things that didn’t happen in our reality. In this universe, the country’s citizens live in fear of having Russians in disguise, living side by side, and that a war could happen at any time.
We’ll see historical people from the period like Ronald Reagan, former USA president, who was shown in the revelation trailer. However, well-known Black Ops characters like Frank Woods, Alex Mason and Jason Hudson will be back in the campaign, on missions that promise to be breathtaking. A new character, a former Vietnam War fighter named Russel Adler, will play a key role in the story, mainly because of his mysterious past. We will have a mission that takes place in Vietnam, from what we saw in the trailer. Who knows, we may know his real reasons or Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and if we really decide to trust him or not.
For the first time in the Call of Duty franchise, we’ll be able to create our character and we will have an element that seems to have come directly from RPGs: you’ll be able to choose a psychological profile of your character, which will make the player receive bonuses for being more reliable or more aggressive. There will be times when you’ll have to make choices that change the direction of the story and your hero’s personality will be shaped according to what you decide to do.
Among the missions presented by Activision, some involve espionage, which should mean that we have to accomplish objectives in disguise or without being seen. However, everything always ends in the good old shootout that we are used to in Call of Duty. There will be different paths to follow and different ways to complete a mission. The look is incredible in the new generation – a pity that we still don’t have a date to play on Xbox Series X and PS5.
Still, for those who explore the scenarios, “doors” (yes, doors!) can fall from the skies and take players to alternative realities that happen only in the heads of the characters.
It looks like Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will want to mess with our heads and keep us playing a lot of the most popular shooting games on the planet.
